EPIQ Elite sits at the top of the Philips ultrasound range. It is built for departments that need one system to handle a wide caseload without giving up image quality on the hardest patients.
The platform pairs a high-channel-count acquisition front end with nSIGHT image formation, so resolution stays uniform across the full field of view rather than falling off outside a fixed focal zone. Add PureWave single-crystal transducers for penetration on technically difficult body habitus, and xMATRIX probes that deliver 2D, biplane, volumetric and Doppler modes without a probe swap.
For a practice buying preowned, that combination is the argument: EPIQ Elite performance in radiology, women's health, vascular, MSK and shared-service imaging at a price a mid-range new system cannot beat.
Configured Around Your Caseload
EPIQ Elite ships in clinically tailored configurations. The chassis, display and imaging architecture are shared; the transducer set, presets, measurement packages and licensed options are what change. Tell us the exams you run and we will match the configuration and probe list.
nSIGHT Imaging and PureWave Transducers
Image quality on EPIQ Elite comes from two places working together: how the system forms the image, and what it acquires the data with.
- nSIGHT Imaging — parallel image formation and reconstruction that holds resolution and uniformity across the whole field of view, not just at a focal depth
- PureWave crystal technology — single-crystal transducer material for wider bandwidth and better penetration on difficult-to-image patients
- xMATRIX arrays — 2D matrix probes that produce 2D, Live xPlane, Live 3D/4D, MPR, Doppler, color and CPA from one transducer
- Tissue aberration correction — compensates for speed-of-sound variation through the body wall
- AutoSCAN — pixel-level real-time brightness optimization, so the image stays uniform with fewer manual adjustments
Advanced Clinical Tools
EPIQ Elite carries the quantification and characterization tools that separate a premium system from a general-purpose one. Availability depends on the configuration and licensed options on the specific unit — we confirm what is enabled before you buy.
Built for High-Volume Days
A premium system earns its keep on throughput as much as on image quality. EPIQ Elite is laid out for sonographers who scan all day.
- Large tablet-style touchscreen control panel with a customizable, context-aware layout
- Height-adjustable, rotating control panel and an articulating 24-inch display arm to fit the operator and the patient position
- One-touch optimization and automated measurement tools to cut keystrokes per exam
- Shared interface and transducer family with Philips Affiniti and Compact systems, so staff move between rooms without retraining
- Centralized cart braking with independent steering locks
- Full DICOM connectivity, on-board storage and network image transfer
Clinical Applications
EPIQ Elite is a shared-service platform. One cart covers a caseload that would otherwise take two or three systems.
Compatible Transducers
EPIQ Elite runs the Philips EPIQ / Affiniti transducer family. Probes are quoted with the system so the configuration matches the exams you actually bill.

Premium Imaging Without the Premium Invoice
A new premium console is a capital-committee conversation. A preowned EPIQ Elite is a purchase order. Same nSIGHT architecture, same PureWave and xMATRIX probes, same 24-inch display — at a fraction of new-system cost.
Every system UDS sells is inspected, tested and supported by our own service team in Vista, California. We have been doing this for over twenty years from a 15,000 sq. ft. facility, and we are independent — no private equity, no manufacturer dealer network telling us what to put in front of you. The recommendation you get is the one that fits your practice.
We also handle probe sourcing, DICOM configuration, applications training, installation and ongoing service, plus financing with no payment for 90 days.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Philips EPIQ Elite used for?
EPIQ Elite is a premium shared-service ultrasound platform used for radiology and general imaging, abdominal and liver studies, women's health and fetal imaging, breast, small parts, vascular, musculoskeletal, pediatric and interventional procedures. Configurations are clinically tailored, so the transducer set and licensed options determine which of those a given system is optimized for.
What is nSIGHT Imaging?
nSIGHT is the Philips image-formation architecture on the EPIQ platform. Rather than transmitting into a fixed focal zone and reconstructing line by line, it uses parallel acquisition and image reconstruction to hold detail and contrast resolution uniform across the full depth and width of the image.
What is the difference between PureWave and xMATRIX transducers?
PureWave refers to the single-crystal piezoelectric material used in the transducer, which widens bandwidth and improves penetration on technically difficult patients. xMATRIX refers to the array geometry — a two-dimensional matrix of elements that lets one probe produce 2D, biplane, volumetric, MPR and Doppler imaging without swapping transducers. Some probes, such as the X8-2t, use both.
How large is the EPIQ Elite display?
The system uses a 24-inch (60.96 cm) HD MAX high-definition display mounted on an articulating arm, so it can be positioned for the operator and for bedside or procedural work.
How much does the EPIQ Elite weigh and how much space does it need?
The system weighs about 104.3 kg (230 lb) without peripheral devices. It measures 60.6 cm (23.9 in) wide and 109.2 cm (43 in) deep, with an adjustable height of 146 to 171.5 cm (57.5 to 67.5 in).
Does the EPIQ Elite support elastography and contrast imaging?
Yes. The platform supports both strain and shear wave elastography through ElastQ, including quantitative stiffness display with a confidence map, and supports contrast-enhanced ultrasound for real-time lesion characterization. Both are licensed options, so we verify what is enabled on the specific system.
Are transducers included with a preowned EPIQ Elite?
Probes are quoted with the system so the configuration matches your exam mix. Systems typically come with a probe set already; we confirm exactly which transducers are on the unit and add or substitute probes as needed.
Does UDS provide a warranty and service on preowned EPIQ Elite systems?
Yes. Every system is inspected and tested by our service team in Vista, California, and ships with a warranty. We also offer installation, applications training, preventive maintenance and ongoing repair support.
Is financing available on the EPIQ Elite?
Yes. Financing is available with low monthly payments, no money down and no payment for 90 days, subject to a review of credit strength. Ask for financing terms when you request your quote.
