EDAN Nano L12 EXP Handheld Ultrasound
The Nano L12 EXP is a pocket-sized linear-array scanner built on EDAN's SynSight zone sonography platform. It pairs with an Android phone or tablet over Wi-Fi or USB Type-C, carries an IP67 dustproof and waterproof rating, and delivers B, M, Color and PW imaging wherever the patient is — triage bay, ward round, field response or clinic.

The Nano series was built to close the gap between high-performance imaging and true mobility. There is no console, no cart requirement and no boot sequence to wait through — the probe is the system, and the phone or tablet already in your pocket is the screen.
That makes the L12 EXP a practical answer for the places a cart-based system never reaches: emergency triage, field response, ward rounds, home health visits, sports sidelines and primary care exam rooms where space is measured in inches.
The SynSight Zone Sonography Platform
Zone sonography is a different approach to acquiring and processing ultrasound data. Rather than building the image line by line, SynSight insonates large zones and uses all of the returning echo information from each one — covering the field of view in far fewer transmit and receive cycles.
The raw echo data is then reprocessed multiple times in the channel domain to construct the final image. In practice that means the imaging engine has more information to work with per acquisition, which is how a probe this small produces the detail it does.
The EDAN Nano App
All controls, measurements and image management live in the EDAN Nano mobile app. Imaging modes are B, M, Color Doppler and PW Doppler, with automation designed to shorten the path from probe-on-patient to a usable measurement.
Simple, Reliable and Always Ready
- IP67 dustproof and waterproof — wipe down and disinfect between patients without worrying about ingress
- USB Type-C quick charging for long scanning sessions
- Low power consumption to extend time between charges
- Ergonomic housing with three user-defined buttons for one-handed operation
- Connects by Wi-Fi or cable, whichever your workflow prefers
- Qualified for emergency medical service use
Optional Accessories
The probe and the EDAN Nano app are the system. Everything below is optional and quoted separately, so you only pay for the pieces your workflow actually needs.
- Rolling cart — height-adjustable stand with a tablet mount and two storage baskets, for exam rooms and ward rounds where you want the scanner staged and ready
- Carrying bag — hard protective case for transport between sites, field response and mobile clinics
- Android tablet — supply your own, or let us include a compatible device in the quote
Clinical Applications
The L12 EXP is a high-frequency linear array, so it is built for superficial structures — vessels, nerves, soft tissue, joints and small parts.

The Virtue of Value
EDAN has spent three decades building diagnostic devices that put capable imaging within reach of more clinicians. The Nano series is that idea taken to its logical end: a full point-of-care exam from a device that costs a fraction of a cart system and travels in a lab coat.
Every system UDS sells is inspected, tested and supported by our own service team in Vista, California. We are independent, so the recommendation you get is the one that fits your practice — not the one that fits a quota.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the EDAN Nano L12 EXP?
It is a handheld linear-array ultrasound system built on EDAN's SynSight zone sonography platform. The probe contains the imaging hardware and pairs with an Android phone or tablet, which acts as the display and control surface through the EDAN Nano app.
What devices does the Nano L12 EXP work with?
The Nano L12 EXP runs on Android smartphones and tablets. It connects either over Wi-Fi or by USB Type-C cable, so you can choose whichever suits your workflow and infection-control practice.
Is a tablet included with the system?
Tablets are quoted with the system rather than bundled by default, so the configuration matches how you plan to use it. Tell us whether you want a display device included and we will build it into the quote.
What imaging modes does the Nano L12 EXP support?
B-mode, M-mode, Color Doppler and PW Doppler. The app adds automation including one-touch optimization, automatic spectral Doppler tracing, Auto IMT and needle visualization in B, Color and PW.
What is the L12 EXP used for clinically?
As a high-frequency linear array it is suited to superficial imaging: vascular and carotid studies, vascular access and needle guidance, musculoskeletal, nerve blocks and anesthesia, lung, small parts, breast, neo-head, pediatric and appendix exams.
Can the probe be cleaned and disinfected?
Yes. The Nano L12 EXP carries an IP67 dustproof and waterproof rating, so it can be wiped down and disinfected between patients. Always follow EDAN's cleaning instructions and your facility's protocol for approved agents.
Does the Nano L12 EXP support DICOM?
Yes. DICOM transfer is available from the EDAN Nano app, so studies can be sent to PACS rather than living on the tablet.
How is the L12 EXP different from the Nano C5 EXP?
Both are part of EDAN's Nano handheld series and share the same platform and app. The L12 EXP is the linear-array model built for superficial structures at high frequency. If your exams also include deeper abdominal or obstetric work, tell us and we will quote the right combination.
Does UDS sell the Nano L12 EXP new?
Universal Diagnostic Solutions is an independent supplier of new and preowned ultrasound equipment. Call 760-754-3288 or request a quote and we will confirm current availability, configuration and pricing.
